Project

vtt-studio

A caption and transcript editor that runs in the browser: fix timing on a waveform, split and merge lines, check reading speed, and export WebVTT, SRT or text. Open source, in early development.

Open a video or audio file with its captions, or start from nothing. The captions appear in a list that follows playback and on a timeline drawn over the audio waveform. You can edit the text, split and merge captions, nudge their timing, set times from the playhead with the keyboard, and name speakers.

Built-in checks flag captions that overlap, are too short or too long, or are too fast to read. Everything happens in your browser: files never leave your computer, and drafts are saved as you work.

It feeds two of my other projects: 0-0 turns its captions into a clickable transcript, and says can search them.
