Project

No Echo

A discussion engine you can host yourself, where a thread only accepts points that haven't been made yet. Open source, in early development.

In a No Echo thread, a comment that repeats a point already made doesn't post. The person is shown the comment it matched and how close the match was, so they can see why.

  • No votes, likes or popularity sorting.
  • Comments in time order, with the author's name a click away rather than beside every comment.
  • Claims attached to comments are marked verified, unverified, refuted, disputed or opinion, based on the sources cited, never on votes.
  • AI features, such as help before posting and questions about a thread, are optional and off by default. Matching is done locally, with no AI service.

Status

Early development, version 0.1. The engine, the matching and a basic API work and are tested; there is no interface, sign-in or AI provider yet. Python; MIT licence.
