Clear Recent History: privacy policy
Chrome extension · Effective 20 October 2026
Clear Recent History does not collect, store, sell or send any personal data. Everything it does happens inside your own browser.
What the extension does
When you click one of its buttons, the extension:
- deletes your browsing history from the last 15 minutes or the last hour
- deletes past visits to the links on the page you're viewing, so they stop showing as visited
- if you ask it to, deletes cookies and saved data for the one website open in your current tab
It only acts when you click a button. It never runs in the background.
Data it reads
- Browsing history: only to check whether a link on the current page has been visited, so that visit can be deleted.
- The current tab's address and links: only when you click a button, to know which website or links to act on.
This information is used once, in your browser, and then discarded.
Data it stores
One value: the time you last cleared your history, so the extension can show "Last cleared 4 minutes ago". It's kept in Chrome's local extension storage on your computer and is never sent anywhere.
Data it shares
None. The extension makes no network requests, has no servers, uses no analytics and contains no ads or tracking. No data is sold or transferred to anyone.
Chrome sync
If you have Chrome sync turned on, Chrome itself removes deleted history from your other signed-in devices too. That is Chrome's behaviour, not something the extension controls.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
