Common Breaks Down the 6 Songs that Shaped His Career | Track Star* Podcast

The Track Star Podcast continues with an in-depth look at the career of Common, one of the most distinctive and enduring artists in modern culture.

Through six songs, we trace his journey from growing up in Chicago and working as a ball boy for the Bulls when Michael Jordan arrived, to making Resurrection, moving to New York, and finding a creative home with Black Star, The Roots, J Dilla, and D’Angelo. Along the way, Common talks about hearing Illmatic early and how it pushed him forward, performing “The Food” live on Chappelle’s Show, recording at Electric Lady during a pivotal moment in music, and discovering a new path for expression in acting.
