Testing The Editor of The New Yorker's Music Knowledge | Track Star*

David Remnick, editor of The New Yorker and mid-life rock band member steps into the Track Star* hot seat for an episode that’s as thoughtful as it is surprising. A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and lifelong music obsessive, Remnick reflects on the early days of his career, his deep love of rock ’n’ roll, and the unintended role he may have played in sparking a little tension between The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. The soundtrack to his episode spans soul, opera, folk, and classic rock, featuring songs by Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Luciano Pavarotti, Nina Simone, and John Martyn-a revealing playlist that offers a rare glimpse into the cultural influences behind one of the most influential editors in American media. Enjoy!
