Testing Flying Lotus' Music Knowledge | Track Star*

Steven Ellison, known by his stage name Flying Lotus, is a record producer, DJ, filmmaker and rapper from Los Angeles. His music sits somewhere between hip-hop, jazz, electronic, and something totally unclassifiable - it’s experimental, but never cold.

As the founder of the record label Brainfeeder, he’s helped shape an entire scene built around boundary-pushing sound, and his own projects always feel like they’re pulling from the past and the future at the same time.

The playlist moves through Madvillain memories of bus rides to Amoeba, Earl Sweatshirt and the early Odd Future energy in LA, Sun Ra’s philosophy of space, and Burial - a record that only fully clicked once FlyLo heard it in the cold rain of the UK, suddenly realizing it was the soundtrack to an entire city. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did!
