Testing Bruce Hornsby's Music Knowledge | Track Star*

On today's episode of Track Star* we have the effortlessly talented and endlessly funny Bruce Hornsby. Jack and Bruce spoke outside on a rainy day about a variety of topics ranging from Elvis' commercial pursuits to Bruce's collaboration with jazz legends Jack DeJohnette and Christian McBride. Bruce educated Jack on the nuances of the Grateful Dead's sprawling catalog of beloved songs, and shared the stories behind his collaborations with Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. Most interestingly, Bruce shared the behind the scenes story of how his iconic 80s hit "The Way It Is" came to be sampled in 2Pac's posthumous classic, "Changes." This episode was certainly full of deep cuts, but it's for any music fan, young or old, who has an interest in the nuances of music history.
